Virtual Lunch with Steven Smith, PhD
With all the talk about Senate governance and the filibuster, we're excited to have Steven S. Smith, PhD as the featured speaker for our Virtual Lunch. The former director of the Weidenbaum Center on the Economy, Government, and Public Policy, Professor Smith has worked on Capitol Hill in several capacities and has served as a senior fellow at the Brooking Institution. He is currently the Kate M. Gregg Distinguished Professor of Social Science at Washington University in St. Louis.
Smith has authored or co-authored six books on congressional politics and is currently working on books on party leadership in the U.S. Senate and the nature of party effects on congressional voting. He also directs The American Panel Survey (TAPS), a national political opinion poll that goes out each month to the same group of about 2000 citizens. You can learn more about him here.
