A Conversation with CalPERS

Every September, to honor Labor Day, our monthly luncheon features a conversation about working people and the Labor Movement in Silicon Valley and beyond. This year, we're excited to welcome CalPERS Board Member and D21stCC E-Board Member Jose Luis Pacheco as our guest speaker.

CalPERS is the nation's largest public pension fund, governed by a Board of Administration consisting of 13 members who are elected, appointed, or hold office ex officio. Jose Luis is serving his first term on the board. Professionally, he works in IT for the San José Evergreen Community College District and previously served as President of California School Employees Association’s Local 363.

Jose Luis holds two bachelor’s degrees — one in economics and the other in biological sciences from Santa Clara University and California State University East Bay, respectively. He also holds a certificate in advanced accounting proficiency from SCU and a certificate in alternative investments from the Harvard School of Business.

Tickets are $30 for Current Members (paid for 2025) and $35 for Non-Members. Not sure if you're current on your dues? Send us an email to check. Tickets ARE refundable and/or transferable.
